The Advance Directive is a set of instructions that expresses a person’s health care wishes if they were ever in the hospital and unable to speak for themselves. The Advance Directive tells the medical team who can speak for the patient and what the patient’s medical wishes are. While this document can feel overwhelming, these classes will attempt to make the confusing feel more understandable.

During this session, Chaplain Wes Sedlacek, will provide education and will give people the opportunity to complete their own Advance Directive. Other topics will also be mentioned, such as “quality of life” and the Portable Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) form, which is another document used to specify a person’s wishes, especially about CPR. Join us Thursday, May 16 beginning at 7 PM for this informative program held in the Kirk Room at the Brownsville Community Library.
